Our Fancy Little Family

That's B on the left, and I'm Kerry... welcome to our little world. Since you've dropped by this lil' old page, I take it you'd like to know more about the duo behind this blog? Let's start from the beginning (I promise not to bore you).

B and I met in July of 2007... online, while he was living just outside of New York City, and I just outside of Toronto (Ontario). We spent a ton of time emailing, before we started chatting via web cam, which eventually led to extremely lengthy phone calls. Just over a month of chatting, led to me doing the craziest thing I'd ever done. Booking a flight, and hopping on a plane on September 20th, 2007, to fly to New York City to meet this American who stole my heart via technology. After spending that weekend together being tourists in NYC, we never looked back.

We spent an entire year after that first trip travelling back and forth, fitting in weekends together, and one week long vacation, before we finally made the jump. Well... more like B made the jump.

In September of 2008, B moved out of the apartment he'd been sharing with friends in Boston for many years, quit his job and headed North of the border to be with me "full time". It didn't take him too long to find work, and by November we were returning to visit B's family in Massachusetts with the exciting news that he'd found a job in Toronto. In February of 2009 we moved into our first apartment, and by May of the same year we purchased our first home.

We bought in a quiet neighbourhood, close to the lake with dreams of fixing it up and really making it our first home for us and B's dog Parker. In December of 2009, we welcomed a new addition when we adopted Harley, our rescue dog.

With what felt like a complete family, we went about our way happily renovating and redecorating our tiny home. In the spring of 2010 I finally made a leap of my own (with the support of B), and decided to head back to school. Along with working full-time during the day, and renovating on evenings and weekends, I began taking courses at a college in Toronto to earn a certificate in Interior Decorating. It was such an exciting time, and I felt like I was finally headed in the direction that I wanted with my life. We couldn't have been happier... or so we thought.

In the fall of 2010, things started to change. I was tired and moody and just not acting like myself. Shortly after starting our major front entrance renovation, we discovered why...

Two would become three, when our little girl joined us on July 23rd, 2011...

So this is the story of us, our home and our little family. We hope you enjoy sticking around to learn more about us, as we continue along this crazy little journey of life that we're on together. Doing what we can to fancy it up along the way.
